Perth

Perth is a vibrant, cosmopolitan and modern city, pleasantly on the Swan River, with tthe port of Fremantle a mere 20 km downstream. It's claimed to be the sunniest state capital in Australia and the most isolated capital city in the world.

Old Fremantle Prison

This was one of the first building tasks of the convicts and maximum security prison until 1991.

Lancelin - 130 km north of perth.

This town is backed by expansive dunes that are grat for sand boarding. This is the home of the amazing "Bigfoot"- supposedly the world's largest 4WD tour coach and sight to behold.

Pinnacles Desert

The small seaport of Cervantes, 257 km north of Perth, is the entry point for the bizzare and haunting Pinnacles Desert. Here, in coastal Nambung National Park, that flat sandy desert is punctured with peculiar limestone pillars, some only a few centimeters high, others towering up to 5m.

Rottnest Island

"Rotto", as it's know to locals, is a small sandy island only 11km long and 4,5 km wide about 19km off the coast from Fremantle. It was discovered by Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh in 1696. He named it Rats' Nest because of the numerous king-size "rats" he saw there (in fact, they were small wallabies called Quokkas).
