Beijing

Beijing is a great metropolitan with over 3000 years of history. The earliest inhabitants date back to 500000years ago. It is the polotical, cultural and intellectual center of the country. Beijing covers 1700 square kilometers. Over 95% of people are of Han nationality; with 55 minorities comprising the other 5%. The official language is Putonghua but local residents speak Beijing dialect, which is just a little different.

 

Temple of Heaven

Built between 1406 and 1420, the temple of Heaven is one of Beijing's most impressive parks in terms of architecture, colour and significance. The Temple is basically a huge communications which the Emperor used to communicate directly with Heaven. Several times a year, the Emperor would come to pray for good harvests, enough rain and other heavenly blessings.

 

 

 

Forbidden City

The Forbidden Citywas commissioned by the third Emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Yong Le. All together there are 9999 rooms in the Museum. All of which can be visited.

 

Tian'anman Square

Though the Sqare itself is not particulary good looking, it is immens. To the south is the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, where you can pass the crystal coffin where "Mao" now lies.

 

Mutianyu Great Wall

Built in the mid-6th century, it lies in the northeast of Huairou Country and is older and steeper than the Badaling.
